How Does EPC Work?

The EPC system is ideal for junior players as it has been specifically designed to provide fun, fast and fair play.

Players score in points which enables EPC to capture more data per match as well as lift the intensity of play through utilising shorter matches. Bring on the extinction of long onesided matches!

How is an EPC score calculated?

An EPC score is calculated using a complex ELO algorithm that takes into account a player’s probable chance of winning a match and compares it to the actual outcome of the match. Further, there are some additional unique factors that ensure accuracy and validity of the calculation in a real-world environment. A player’s EPC score is calculated after every match they play, meaning the more matches they play, the more accurate their score is.

ADVANTAGES OF THE EPC METHOD

Tennis Skill Points

More Opponents, More Accuracy

Playing against many opponents will increase their EPC score accuracy.
Tennis Point Rewards

Rewarding Excellence, Not Just Outcomes

Rewards players for exceeding their expected outcome as opposed to win/loss. For example, a player’s score can still increase if they lose by less than the calculated probable outcome.

Fast Tennis Match

Every Point is a Game-Changer!

Promotes competitive, fast, action-packed, competitive play that has been tailored to the grassroots level. Remember – Every Point Counts!

Ensuring Fair Play and Clear Developmental Pathways

EPC Sports addresses the lack of developmental pathways for young tennis players in Australia. Through its unique ‘best of points’ match format, players can enjoy fair and competitive matches while tracking their progress through various skill levels. This approach fosters both their development and enjoyment of the game.
